1. In Outlook, select TOOLS, OPTIONS, EMAIL OPTIONS, ADVANCED EMAIL OPTIONS
2. In the "When new items arrive in my Inbox" area, select or de-select the following items:
- play a sound
- briefly change the mouse cursor
- show an envelope icon in the notification area
- display a new mail desktop alert (for default inbox only)
3. If you've selected to display a desktop alert, click DESKTOP ALERT SETTINGS
4. Click and drag the slider to adjust duration and transparency settings
5. Click PREVIEW, then OK to accept change
