Search For Lost Files

Whether it’s an accidental click & drag on a file or folder, or you simply can’t remember where you saved a file from last week, use Windows Explorer Search:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. On the menu bar, click Search
  3. Select “All files and folders”
  4. Enter all or part of the file name, or a word or phrase
  5. Change the “Look in” field to your Local Disk, or specific folder
  6. Click Search

If you still can't find the file, or you can’t remember what you named the file, use the advanced search features:

  • When was it modified (last saved)?
  • What size is it?
  • More Advanced options ie: by file type, hidden files, case sensitive, additional locations
