Whether it’s an accidental click & drag on a file or folder, or you simply can’t remember where you saved a file from last week, use Windows Explorer Search:
- Open Windows Explorer
- On the menu bar, click Search
- Select “All files and folders”
- Enter all or part of the file name, or a word or phrase
- Change the “Look in” field to your Local Disk, or specific folder
- Click Search
If you still can't find the file, or you can’t remember what you named the file, use the advanced search features:
- When was it modified (last saved)?
- What size is it?
- More Advanced options ie: by file type, hidden files, case sensitive, additional locations
