Managing Your Electronic Files

Need help managing your electronic files? Here are some ways to get organized and protect your files:

  1. Save current files in your My Documents folder, or a subfolder within this folder
  2. Be consistent when naming files and folders
  3. Keep file and folder names short
  4. Use shortcuts and links instead of multiple copies of files
  5. Archive (move) non-current files from your PC to a CD, DVD or external hard drive on a regular basis
  6. Backup your My Documents folder to a CD, DVD or external hard drive on a regular basis
