Speed up Windows XP

...by disabling specific visual effects:

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and click Properties
2. Click the Advanced tab and in the Performance area, click Settings
3. Open the Visual Effects tab and select the Custom option
4. Clear the check boxes for the visual effects you want to disable
5. Click OK, then OK again to accept your changes
